What is Speech and Language Therapy?
Speech and Language Therapy is an evidence-based profession that performs assessments and treatments of communication problems and speech disorders. Speech therapists, also known as a speech language pathologists (SLPs), are the ones who administer this type of therapy. Some SLPs also address feeding and swallowing issues, dependent on their training.

Speech problems which involves the creation of sound, tongue placement and voice quality. Language problems involve communication - which can involve understanding language, expressing thoughts or participating appropriately in social situations. Swallowing therapy addresses a person's ability to swallow safely, especially after a trauma like a stroke and feeding therapy helps people become better, more confident eaters.
Speech and Language therapy at Sprocket Therapy involves a whole body approach. The SLPs work closely with their OT colleagues to ensure that they are meeting the needs of each client as comprehensively as possible.
