Hello! I'm Dan, and I moved to Nashville in the Summer of 2012. I am originally from Fairmount, IL which is a small farming community in Central Illinois, but the hustle and bustle of the big city has always attracted me. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University in 2008, and since then with a few pauses and breaks for moves from Illinois to Cincinnati, and then from Cincinnati to Music City, I have worked with disadvantaged children in one way or another. I am a graduate of the Tennessee State University Occupational Therapy program, and am interested in all facets of the benefits that can be provided by Occupational Therapy
I was drawn to Occupational Therapy by my now wife, Kerry, who is a Speech Therapist. She suggested that I observe a clinic, and was fortunate enough to see a pediatric therapist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. It was a sensory-integration based treatment, and ever since that experience I knew that was what I wanted to do. I love the idea of using movement as a therapeutic mechanism, mostly because I very rarely sit still.
In my spare time I love to spend time with my wife and "fur-babies." We have two pit-bull mixes. Daisy, is our six-year old rescue from Cincinnati who is afraid of everything, and Stanley, who is a two-year old from right here in Nashville that attempts to eat the lawn mower when I walk past him with it. If I'm not at home or work, you could probably find me on a football field, running, at a park, on a basketball court, cooking, eating, trying new restaurants (especially barbecue) or making friends or conversation with just about anyone I can talk to. As you can probably tell by that list, I like to stay busy :)
