Hello, my name is Bre. I am a Nashville native. I grew up in Gallatin, a suburb northeast of Nashville, but have lived in the city for 8 years. I received my OTD in 2017 and Bachelor of Science in psychology in 2014 from Belmont University. I have been an occupational therapist for one year, but have worked or volunteered with children for most of my life. I love being a pediatric occupational therapist because it allows me to be creative, get messy, and stay moving. One of my current interests is using martial arts as a mode of treatment during OT sessions. I did martial arts for 11 years when I was younger and believe it was an integral part of my own development.
I am drawn to anything that involves food, music, or being active. I have an awesome husband and a pup named Oliver. In my spare time, I like cooking, drinking coffee, singing (in my car), hiking, and rock climbing. My dream is to play mandolin in a bluegrass band, but I have not figured out the mandolin just yet.
I am excited to be a part of the Sprocket team! I feel lucky to work in such an innovative environment with therapists who treat the whole child. Besides, I know I could have used OT at Sprocket when I was kid.
Cheers! Bre DeKuiper
